Mystics Light It Up Against Liberty

Washington Mystics v Indiana Fever

The Washington Mystics beat the New York Liberty by a whopping 33 points, their largest margin of victory on the season. Offensively, Ivory Latta lit it up from behind the arc, making all but one of her five three-point attempts. The three centers (Kia Vaughn, Emma Meeseman, and Stefanie Dolson) tallied a combined 28 points and 13 rebounds while shooting an efficient 12 of 16 from the field. Rookie point guard Bria Hartley displayed her all-around game by netting eleven points, grabbing four rebounds, and dishing out three assists.

While the offense was firing on all cylinders, it was the Mystics’ defense that stole the show. The Liberty shot a meager 28.8% and missed all seven of their three-point attempts. Aside from Tina Charles, no Liberty player scored more than six points. According to ESPN, the 46 points for the Liberty were a franchise low. The win is a nice rebound for the Mystics following the overtime loss against the Liberty last week. Still, the race for the playoffs is tight as the Mystics, Sky, Fever, and Liberty continue to battle for the last three playoff spots in the East, with only 1.5 games separating all four teams in the standings.
